HUCHUY QOSQO TREK & MACHU PICCHU 3DAYS / 2NIGHTS:

ITINERARY

DAY 1: CUSCO – PATABAMBA – HUCHUY QOSQO:

After breakfast, the guide will pick you up from your hotel. Transfer to Patabamba located at 3700m.a.s.l./12139ft which is an Andean village with impressive landscapes in the land of great wool weavers, they use ancestral Inca techniques to create amazing textiles. At this point you will start to hike, along the way you will pass through few small communities such as Siwas, Qenqo and Pumamarka where you can see locals After 3 hour hiking you will arrive to the highest pass (abra 4,600m/15,092ft), from this place you will have amazing views of the sacred valley and the mountain which surrounds the valley. Time to enjoy the box lunch.
Continuing with the hiking you will arrive to Huchu Qosqo (small Cusco) (3650 m.a.s.l./11800ft), this Inca site was strategically built over a mountain; from this place you will have a complete view of the sacred valley of the Incas.
Arrival to a family home where you will spend the night. Time to enjoy Huchuy Qosqo, visit the most important sectors and buildings. Also, you will share the traditional daily living of the Andean people.

DAY 2: HUCHUY QOSQO – LAMAY – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES:

After an early breakfast, you will have a guided tour of Huchuy Qosqo.
Visit the mainly Incas God building, that is an imposing architecture that includes a large open ceremonial center, from which you will enjoy a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley, the Vilcanota River, and the snowcapped mountain range.
Finally, you will start to hike downhill to Lamay, after almost 2 hours you will arrive to Lamay where you will enjoy the lunch.
In this point you will take the bus to Ollantaytambo train station, where you will board the train to Aguas Calientes town.

Hiking time:  3 hours

DAY 3: MACHU PICHU – CUSCO:

Today, you have a full-day to explore Machu Picchu citadel – the new seven wonder of the world; the shuttle bus service will take you for 20 minutes from Aguas Calienets to Machu Picchu where you will have a 2- 3 hours fully guided tour of the mysterious ruins, visiting the most important sector of the city such as the temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana, the temple of the three windows, the mausoleum, the temple of the condor, etc.
If you are in a good physical shape you can hike to the Inca Bridge, Huayna Picchu, Inti Punku sun gate, or just wander through the ruins taking pictures.
You then return to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Cusco (Poroy train station), arrival to Poroy and transfer to your hotel.

NOTE: optional hike to the summit of Huayna Picchu, (Huayna Picchu now requires an extra, limited-availability permit; allowed just 400 per day. It is a 1.5 hours hike)
